Flatbed Trailer Flips and Spills Jersey Barriers on Interstate 5 in Salem (PHOTOS)Salem-News.comThe driver was not injured and there were no other vehicles involved.
(SALEM, Ore.) - The northbound lanes of Interstate 5 in the Salem area were closed for about 30 minutes Sunday afternoon when a commercial trailer flipped onto its side spilling its load of jersey barriers across the freeway. Oregon State Police Recruit Trooper Michael Rockwell says today at approximately 11:50 a.m. a commercial truck driven by Adam Spencer, whose age and city of residence were not unavailable, was pulling two flatbed trailers loaded with jersey barriers was operated by northbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 256. "The vehicles were in the right lane of a three lane section of freeway at 55 mph when the rear trailer reportedly began to sway side to side," Rockwell said. The weight of the barriers, estimated at 9000 lbs. apiece, caused the trailer to flip onto its right side. "The jersey barriers spilled off the trailer across the freeway lanes. After breaking free from the first trailer, the rear trailer overturned and came to rest across the center and left northbound lanes." Rockwell says Spencer was not injured and there were no other vehicles involved. The truck were owned by Muddy Creek Transport. No citations were issued. Salem Fire Department and ODOT assisted at the scene.
