(VANCOUVER, Wash.) - Deputies were called to the 26500 block of NE Rawson Road in Hockinson to a report of a horse that had returned to its boarding stable without its rider.

Sergeant Kevin Allais with the Clark County Sheriff's Office Major Crime Unit, said, "A fellow rider found the horse had made its way back to the stable without the rider. She immediately went looking for the rider up a Longview Timber owned, gravel road."

Allais says about 1 mile up the road she discovered the body of 57-year old Candace "Candy" Morrison of Battle Ground, on the road. Candace had head trauma and was not wearing a riding helmet.

Detectives with the Major Crime Unit were summoned to investigate, Allais said.

"An autopsy is pending and her family has been notified. Candy Morrison was a music teacher at Hudson's Bay High School in Vancouver."
