California Teen Arrested for Stabbing Albany, Oregon ManSalem-News.comAlbany Police Detectives arrested 17-year old Bryon Joseph Varela, a Vacaville, California resident, for the assault.
(ALBANY, Ore.) - On Tuesday, at 4:46 AM, the Albany Police Department responded to the intersection of 5th Avenue and Calapooia Street on the report of stabbing. Officers found a 40-year old male Albany resident lying in the street. The victim, who had been stabbed once in the side, was transported to Albany General Hospital for treatment. The victim told officers that he had been confronted by two male subjects in the 600 block of SW 5th Avenue who accused him of breaking into cars. The victim told officers that without provocation one of the subjects, later identified as Bryon Varela, stabbed him in the side. Albany Police Detectives located Bryon Varela at 710 SW 5th Avenue #7 during a neighborhood canvas. The investigation revealed that Bryon Varela had been visiting an older brother at 710 SW 5th Avenue #7 at which time both heard what they thought was someone breaking into a vehicle. Bryon Varela and his brother, 21-year old Brandon Varela, went outside armed with knives and confronted a male subject who was walking past the residence. During the confrontation Bryon Varela stabbed the victim once in the side before he and his brother ran from the scene. Albany Police Detectives arrested 17-year old Bryon Joseph Varela, a Vacaville, California resident, for the assault. Bryon Varela was lodged in the Linn Benton Juvenile Detention Facility on the following charges:
