Task Force on Salem River Crossing Project to Meet TonightSalem-News.comTask force meetings are open to the public and include time for public comment.
(SALEM) - A task force comprised of area stakeholders that is considering the Salem River Crossing Project will meet from 5:30-8:00 PM on Wednesday, at ODOT, Region 2 Complex, Building B, Mt. Jefferson Room (455 Airport Road SE, Salem). The agenda will include a discussion of funding options and context, a presentation on the alternatives development process and finalization of the Evaluation Framework. Task force meetings are open to the public and include time for public comment. The Salem River Crossing Project is being conducted by the City of Salem and ODOT to develop solutions for crossing the Willamette River in the Salem-Keizer metropolitan area that meet transportation needs, are compatible with the built and natural environments and have broad community and regional support. The project will build on results of previous studies and will include development of an environmental impact statement (EIS) and a funding strategy to move any identified solutions toward implementation. The task force of 21 citizens was appointed by the City of Salem and ODOT to help develop recommendations for river crossing solutions. Members of the task force include leaders of neighborhood and civic groups on both sides of the river, public agency staff and representatives of interest groups with a stake in the project.
