Drivers Have a New Edge Behind the Wheel With Help From Njection.comSalem-News.com Business Report
Njection.com Is Offering Speed Trap and Red Light Camera Downloads for Garmin GPS Systems.
(PORTLAND, Ore.) - A company that manufactures speed traps and monitors red light camera information from its Speed Trap Mashup section, Njection.com is now working with Garmin.com, one of the leaders in Global Positioning Systems technology, a company with a large presence in Salem, Oregon.
Shannon Atkinson, President of Njection.com, says drivers can now download speed trap and red light camera information in order to create a more intelligent driving system. He says uploading the location of red light cameras and speed traps to their Garmin system can help prevent drivers from being ticketed.
With the system, the driver receives a warning when they come within a user determined distance from a speed trap or red light camera. Atkinson says, "In order to increase awareness of this stellar union, Njection.com is going to be giving away a Garmin Nuvi 650 along with a one-year subscription to speed trap and red light camera data to one Grand Prize winner."
He says the second prize for 100 others will be a one-year subscription to speed trap and red light camera data. "One thing that has interested us is the use of our system from airports," Atkinson said.
"One can only conclude that people who travel extensively do not like getting tickets as well." He adds that this technology is especially useful for travelers landing at airports looking to continue their trip by rental car, limo, or van.
Atkinson says that in addition to traveling users, red light and speeding tickets can ruin a driver's livelihood. People such as drivers for TV station news vans, truck drivers, or even emergency vehicle drivers can benefit from the information available from the site.
"Garmin GPS devices will alert you to an upcoming red light camera or to an approaching speed trap. With Garmin GPS devices available for in-car or motorcycle use and Garmin mobile GPS software available for cell phone and laptops, adapting ourselves to Garmin was our first choice."
In addition to its work in exposing speed traps, Njection.com has been asked to provide an impact statement for a new law being passed to restrict the amount of revenue generated from speed traps.
In the State of Louisiana, HB 1050 legis.state.la.us/billdata/streamdocument.asp?did=472433 limits the amount of revenue that can be retained by a local authority or local law enforcement. Amounts in excess after an investigation would be forwarded to the state treasurer for placement in the general fund.
"It's better to be proactive than reactive when driving," Shannon adds. For more information, visit njection.com/speedtrap
In 2007, Shannon Atkinson founded Njection.com to be a hub for the exchange of automotive information. In addition to awareness of speed traps worldwide, a discussion forum and news for serious car enthusiasts everywhere is available.
