Governor Orders Flags at Half-Staff for Fallen Oregon Soldier

Flags to be lowered Tuesday in honor of Army Sgt. Michael Louis Vaughan.

(SALEM) - Governor Ted Kulongoski ordered all flags at public institutions be flown at half-staff on Tuesday in memory of Army Sgt. Michael Louis Vaughan. Vaughan, 20, of Otis, died Monday, April 23rd, 2007, in As Sadah, Iraq.

He was assigned to the 5th Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, in Fort Bragg, N.C. “The sacrifices Vaughan made for our state and for our country will never be forgotten,” said Governor Kulongoski. “During this time of pain, Sergeant Vaughan’s memory is in our hearts and his family, friends and community are in our thoughts and prayers.”
