Fire Forces Evacuations at Albany PlantSalem-News.comThe cause of the fire remains under investigation.
(ALBANY, Ore. ) - Albany firefighters responded to a report of a commercial structure fire this afternoon with the possibility of an explosion at Absorbent Technologies, Inc. All Albany Fire Department personnel responded along with the Hazardous-Materials Region 5 team. Employee's of Absorbent Technologies were evacuated. The incident was upgraded to a 2nd alarm and Ferry Street was closed. At 1:13 PM, the fire was determined to be out and the second alarm was canceled. It was discovered that there had been a small fire and that Absorbent Technologies, Inc, suppression system had put out. There were no injuries. The Region 5 Hazardous Materials Team was able to respond so quickly because they had been attending a training today.
