Small Boy Falls From Railroad Bridge in WashingtonSalem-News.comClark County Sheriff's Office investigates fall from train bridge involving a 4-year old child‏.
(BATTLE GROUND, Wash.) - A small boy was severely injured this morning in the Battle Ground area when he fell from a railroad bridge, approximately 30 feet to the ground. Sgt. Mike Cooke with the Clark County Sheriff's Office, says deputies and Fire District 3 personnel responded to a residence in the Battle Ground area of Clark County at 7:40 a.m. on the report of a seriously injured 4-year old boy. "It was subsequently determined that the child fell approximately 30 feet from a train bridge and into a creek just north of Battle Ground Lake State Park," Cooke said. "The child suffered serious injuries and is currently in surgery at Emmanuel Legacy Hospital. The injuries are not life threatening." Cooke says that upon further investigation, deputies learned that the boy, his step-father and mother, had been camping at Battle Ground Lake prior to the fall occurring. The step-father, 25-year old Samuel Allen Born, was subsequently arrested pursuant to an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Cooke says that at the time of his arrest, Born had injuries consistent with a fall. "However he denied any knowledge of the incident," Cooke said. He also explained that a restraining order had been served and was in effect between Born and the child's mother at the time of this incident. Cooke concluded his news release by stating, "This case will be referred to the Clark County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for possible charges related to any potential restraining order violations and/or charges related to fall incident."
