(SALEM, Ore.) - Marion County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a single vehicle crash at Brooklake Road and Wheatland Road last night at 7:00 p.m.

Lt. Sheila Lorance with the Sheriff's Office, says arriving deputies located a 1995 Nissan Sentra that had traveled approximately 130 feet down an embankment.

The driver of the vehicle, 42-year old Jose Narvaez, of Salem, was deceased and had to be extricated from the vehicle by fire personnel.

"It appears (Mr.) Narvaez was driving Westbound on Brooklake Road and drove over the edge which caused him to become airborne and travel down the embankment," Lorance said.

"On 5-10-09, a passerby noticed a sign broken at the intersection of Brooklake Road and Wheatland Road and reported seeing a car down the embankment.

The day before, Mr. Narvaez was reported missing by his sister who indicated he had not been seen since Monday morning.
