(LAKE OSWEGO, Ore.) - Lake Oswego police have charged Eric Eugene Weaver, an employee of Fire Extinguisher Service Center in Beaverton, with 85 counts of Recklessly Endangering Another Person, a Class "A" Misdemeanor.
According to police and fire department investigators, Weaver reported to apartment managers that the system had been repaired and was functioning properly, when in fact he is alleged to have known that the smoke alarms were not working. Investigators say they also discovered that fire doors did not close, alarms did not meet audibility requirements, required permits had not been obtained and that Weaver lacked the appropriate licensing to do electrical work on that type of system. Weaver has been charged with 85 counts, based upon endangering each of the 85 residents of the apartment building. Fire Extinguisher Service Center is an assumed business name of Northwest Fire, Inc., which lists its principal place of business as 3460 SW 209th, Beaverton, Oregon. Class "A" misdemeanors are subject to a maximum penalty of one year in jail and a fine of $6,250. Weaver is scheduled to be arraigned in Lake Oswego Municipal Court on these charges June 13th at 3:00 PM.
