(LYONS, Ore.) - Deputies in Linn County responded to a fatal motor vehicle crash on Mill City Drive, near Mill City today at 10:41 PM. Sheriff Tim Mueller reports that the driver of the vehicle, 23-year old Matthew Douglas Rowe of Lyons, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the only occupant.

Mueller says Matthew Rowe was traveling on Lyons in Mill City Drive heading to work at the Freres Lumber Mill when the single car crash happened. He was operating a 1991 Volkswagen Golf.

The investigation revealed that Mr. Rowe lost control of the vehicle and the vehicle rolled over on the roadway. Mr. Rowe was not wearing his seat belt properly, Mueller says. He was only wearing his shoulder harness and not the lap belt.
