Albany Loan a Life Jacket Program Begins Memorial Day

(ALBANY, Ore.) - The Albany Fire Department will again have their Loan-A-Life Jacket Program beginning Memorial Day weekend and ending Labor Day weekend.

This is the second year of the program.

Last year, the Albany Fire Department documented over 80 uses of the life jackets last year and experienced no river drowning in the Albany area.

The life jackets will be hung at Fire Station 11 located at 110 SE Sixth Avenue and are loaned out on an honor system.

There are forms to fill out and the jackets can be returned to the same location.

The program came in response to the national statistic from the Center for Disease Control that drowning are the number two reason children under the age of 14 are injured or die.

The Albany Fire Department would like to thank Joe's and Legend Homes for their generous contributions to this program.
