(KEIZER, Ore.) - Officers from the Keizer Police Department responded to an apartment located in the 800 block of Chemawa Road North just after 5:30 PM this evening, after receiving a call from an individual who called 911 to report someone had been stabbed.

Captain Jeff Kuhns with Keizer Police says the complainant told the 911 operator a male subject came to her apartment asking for assistance. The victim, a 55-year old male Keizer resident, told the complainant he had been stabbed and was in need of help.

"The victim told investigating officers he was walking near the intersection of Chemawa Road North and Shoreline Drive North when a late model two-door Honda product with brown or dark colored paint pulled up beside him. He said the front seat passenger exited the vehicle and approached him and demanded his money. During the robbery the victim was stabbed by the suspect."

Kuhns says the suspect got back into the vehicle he had come from. According to the victim, the suspect vehicle was being operated by a second Hispanic male. There were no other occupants observed in the suspect vehicle.

The victim told police he last saw the suspect and suspect vehicle driving northbound on Windsor Island Road North.

"The victim reported he did not know the suspect or the driver of the suspect vehicle. Responding officers were not able to locate the suspect or suspect vehicle," Kuhns said.

"Immediately following the robbery and assault the victim said he walked approximately two blocks to the east where he knocked on the door of the complainant and asked for assistance."

Police officers and medics from the Keizer Fire District responded to this location and assisted the victim, Kuhns said.

"They confirmed he had been stabbed and then he was immediately transported to the Salem Hospital for treatment of his injuries." Kuhns says the man was able to talk to officers about what had occurred, adding that no other information about the man will be released at this time.

The suspect is an Hispanic male adult in his twenties, 5’07” to 5'08", thin build, wearing a black wool cap, a hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. The suspect vehicle is a late model two-door Honda with brown or dark colored paint. No license plates were observed on the vehicle. The paint on car may be oxidized.

Kuhns added that he spoke to the investigating detective at the Salem Hospital, who learned that the victim's injury is not life threatening and he is expected to be released from the hospital this evening.

Keizer officers continue to investigate this incident at this time, according to Kuhns. Anyone witnessing this incident, or otherwise having information are asked to contact the Keizer Police Department at 503-390-3713. Additional information may be released as its deemed appropriate.
