Salem Night Clerk Survives Armed Robbery

Salem-News.com

(SALEM) - A Salem woman is shaken but unharmed after being kidnapped and surviving a violent armed robbery, say police.

Salem Police Lt. Dan Dietz says two masked men, one armed with a rifle, entered the Cozzzy Inn on Fisher Road NE around 9:20 PM Thursday. They overtook the night clerk and taped her to a chair inside the office.

Both men then stole items from the Cozzzy Inn, causing some damage according to Dietz, "They tore the place up a little".

Dietz says it took some time for the woman to free herself, but she eventually did get to a phone and call 911.

Officers responded and conducted a search but Dietz says so far they have not been able to locate the suspects, "K-9 officers brought their dogs out to the area but they failed to pick up anything."

Making matters more difficult according to Dietz, is the fact that the alleged armed robbers fled the area on foot, leaving no physical or vehicle descriptions.

Anyone with information about the armed robbery at the Cozzzy Inn is asked to call Salem Police.
