Teen Leads Police on High Speed Chase Through South SalemSalem-News.comPolice said speeds reached 85 mph as the vehicle headed west on River Road S, then south on Viewcrest Drive S.
(SALEM, Ore. ) - A 17-year-old girl led Salem police on a high-speed chase Monday morning after taking part in an annual Sprague High School "tradition". Salem Police say the girl was involved, along with other teens, in spray painting graffiti on Kuebler Boulevard S. Officers went to the intersection of Kuebler and Croisan Creek Road S just after 2:00 AM. on a report of criminal mischief in progress. As officers were investigating the scene they heard a vehicle start up and take off northbound on Croisan Creek. They located the vehicle a short time later on Madrona Ave. S. As officers tried to get the vehicle to stop, the vehicle sped away and tried to elude pursuing officers. Police said speeds reached 85 mph as the vehicle headed west on River Road S, then south on Viewcrest Drive S. The driver stopped when she saw there were other officers ahead of her with spike strips. The 17-year-old girl was cited for felony attempt to elude, reckless driving, Second-Degree criminal mischief and failure to carry and present a valid driver’s license. She and the vehicle were released to her parents police said.
