Salem Man Wanted By Police Captured at Newport Bar (AUDIO)

(SALEM) - A suspect in a shooting and assault sought by Salem police was arrested Wednesday on the Oregon coast.

Salem police detectives learned that 47-year-old David Mantooth of Salem, was at Shirley`s Bar in Newport.

With the assistance of Newport police, Mantooth was detained at the bar, and arrested on First Degree Assault and Unlawful Use of a Weapon charges.

David Mantooth is now in custody at the Marion County Jail.

He is accused of shooting 24-year-old Brandon Brown of Salem outside the Royal Oaks Apartments in northeast Salem on Monday.
