Body Recovered From Ocean Near Depoe Bay

The body was found in 40 feet of water 1/2 mile south of Rocky Creek State Scenic Viewpoint in Lincoln County.

(DEPOE BAY, Ore.) - Oregon State Police and the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office are investigating the discovery of a body Saturday afternoon in the Pacific Ocean south of Depoe Bay.

They say at this point that there are are no signs of foul play and the body has not been positively identified, according to Oregon State Police Fish & Wildlife Division Sergeant Todd Thompson.

Oregon State Police received a call today around 1:22 PM from a the operator of a commercial sea urchin diver that discovered a body in about 40 feet of water 1/2 mile south of Rocky Creek State Scenic Viewpoint in Lincoln County.

A Tillamook County Sheriff's Office Dive Team responded to the scene, and with the assistance of the US Coast Guard Station Depoe Bay the body of an unidentified male was recovered. Thompson says investigators will be working with the Lincoln County Medical Examiner to identify the body. No further information is available for release.
