Linfield Defeats Bearcats, 2-0, in NWC Men's Soccer Battle

(McMinnville, Oregon) - The statistics for the two teams were nearly even, but Linfield College found a way to produce two goals as the Wildcats defeated Willamette University, 2-0, on Saturday, Nov. 6. Both teams took 14 shots during the game, and Willamette held a slim 10-9 edge in shots on goal. Each squad earned three corner kicks.

Linfield improved to 8-9-1 overall, including 7-7 in the Northwest Conference. Willamette concluded its season with a record of 3-13-3, 1-11-2 in the NWC.

Michel Camacho and Kevin Donato recorded the goals for Linfield in the first half. Camacho opened the scoring with a shot on the ground into the left corner of the net 8:05 into the match. Tyler Repic and Carter Elhabbassi registered assists on the play.

Donato added the Wildcats' second goal just over 16 minutes later at 24:13. He was assisted on the scoring play by Camacho.

Willamette's Adan Vazquez (Fr., F/MF, Woodburn, OR/Woodburn HS) led all players with five total shots. Three of his shots were on goal. Will O'Neil (Fr., F, Vashon, WA/Vashon Island HS) contributed three shots for the Bearcats.

Donato and Colin Bebee led Linfield with three shots each. All three of Donato's shots were on goal, while Bebee placed two of his shots on target.

Eben Hellekson (Sr., GK, Honolulu, HI/University Laboratory School) earned seven saves for Willamette. Linfield goalkeeper Jon Thompson collected 10 saves while recording the shutout.
