Car Smashes Into West Linn Home (PHOTOS)Salem-News.comThe crash also caused a brief power outage.
(WEST LINN, Ore.) - A vehicle with two occupants crashed into a home at 655 S. Rosemont Road in West Linn today around 3:30 PM. Clackamas Sheriff Spokesman Jim Strovink says a Portland General Electric power pole was also struck and compromised as result of this crash. He says emergency agencies including West Linn Police, American Medical Response and Tualatin Fire arrived on the scene with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, possibly expecting the worst. Instead, both people in the vehicle received only minor injuries. The PGE power pole that was knocked over caused a brief power outage that occurred in the immediate area of the crash. Strovink says that meant PGE power crews were soon enroute to the incident as well, over the resulting loss of power and damaged power pole. Deputy Don Boone says the investigation reveals that 27-year old Caitrin Michelle Hatch of West Linn was proceeding westbound on SW Rosemont Road at the time of this crash, driving a white 2001 Suzuki Grand Vitara sport utility. Caitrin Hatch's passenger in the right front seat at the time of this crash that is identified as 28-year old Jeremy Paul Hollen, also of West Linn. Both were reported to have been secured with a seatbelt at the time of this crash. Strovink says both occupants of this vehicle; Caitrin Hatch and Jeremy Hollen, were transported from the scene of the crash to Oregon Health Sciences University Hospital, in Portland. "Astonishingly, both patients are believed to have been treated with non-life threatening injuries." Deputy Boone says this crash remains under investigation and he suspects speed and over correcting in this 40 mph speed zone, may have been a contributing factor.
