Mt. Angel Man Dies in Highway 22 Crash

Wet pavement and speed may have contributed to the crash.

(DETROIT) - A Mt. Angel-area man died Tuesday evening in a single vehicle crash along Highway 22 about fourteen miles east of Detroit. Oregon State Police preliminary investigation indicates that at approximately 6:20 PM, a 1989 Geo Metro driven by 41-year-old John Robert Woodley, from Mt. Angel, waswestbound on Highway 22 near milepost 66 when it went off the highway, down an embankment and struck a tree. Woodly was using safety restraints and was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was alone in the car. Oregon State Police troopers from the Salem Area Command office are continuing the investigation. ODOT and local emergency responders assisted at the scene.
