(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem Fire crews were called out to a report a report of a trapped man in a vehicle in a creek at McGilchrist and 22nd Street SE. The call came through at 9:21 PM Friday. Salem Fire Spokesman Bill Holmstrom says an engine crew arriving on the scene found a Ford Explorer almost on its top in an approximately 10 foot deep water filled culvert, with the patient still seat belted inside. "Fire crews had to stabilize the vehicle with a winch and come along prior to gaining access to the patient," Holmstrom said. After fire crews gained access to the patient they were able to quickly extricate the person from the vehicle and out of the culvert. He added that the patient was transported to Salem Hospital Emergency room for treatment.
