(SALEM, Ore.) - A Salem woman died over the weekend in a two car crash in the 9200 block of Howell Prairie Road NE Sunday morning at 9:43 AM.

Marion County deputies who responded to the crash say Elaine Kuenzi of Salem, was driving her 2004 Chrysler 300 southbound on Howell Prairie Road NE, when she collided with a 1995 BMW that was driven by a 16-year old Salem female who was northbound on Howell Prairie.

Investigators say Mrs. Kuenzi was pronounced dead on the scene and the 16-year old female was transported via life flight to OHSU where she is currently being treated for injuries.

The Marion County CRASH team was called out to investigate the accident. The investigation is continuing and it is not known at this time what factors, if any, contributed to the crash.
