(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Portland Police officers responded to the area of 136th and Division today at 3:45 p.m. on a report that a man in the area had possibly attempted to grab a child. Detective Mary Wheat with the Portland Police Bureau, says officers interviewed two citizens who stated they witnessed a man attempting to grab a girl walking in the area and that the man attempted to chase her. "The two citizens intervened and the girl ran off. The male suspect fled the area and officers began an immediate search and located the man that witnesses stated was involved. He is currently being interviewed by detectives. The girl was not located and was seen running from the area," Wheat said. "Investigators want to locate the girl reportedly involved in this incident. The girl is described as being approximately 12-years old, 5-feet tall, thin, with light brown hair that hangs straight to her shoulder. She was seen wearing tan pants, a dark colored jacket and was carrying a pink backpack." The suspect that detectives are interviewing is a 35-year-old white male. Wheat says detectives would like to talk to the girl involved in this alleged incident and anyone with information concerning this case is asked to call Detectives at 503-823-0407.
