Be Aware! Snow Could Affect Thanksgiving Travel PlansSalem-News.comThe Cascades are one area expecting snow. Before you hit the road, get the latest Oregon road conditions at tripcheck.com or by calling 511.
(SALEM) - The National Weather Service has issued a snow advisory for the Northern Oregon Cascades, Cascades in Lane County, South Washington Cascades, Government Camp, Detroit, Santiam Pass, Mckenzie Bridge, Oakridge, Willamette Pass, Coldwater Ridge Visitors Center, and Mount St. Helens. Lowering snow levels accompanied by accumulating snow is expected over the south Washington and north and central Oregon Cascades this week; snow levels are also expected to fall across the South Washington and north and central Oregon Cascades this week with a series of colder systems expected to bring increasing snow accumulations that will likely affect holiday travel. Snow levels will fall to around 5000 feet Sunday night and on Monday, then drop below the elevation of the main passes through the Cascades late Monday night and Tuesday as a rather strong, even colder weather system moves through. Snow levels will then remain below the main Cascade passes through the rest of the week as several additional systems pass by. The cold weather systems this week will produce the best accumulation of snow in the Cascades so far this fall. These accumulations will likely affect holiday travel across the Cascades both Wednesday and again at the end of the Holiday Weekend. If you must travel into or through the Cascades this week be prepared for significant snow accumulations and for roads becoming snow covered.
