Oregon Futurist Unveils Peace MultiplierSalem-News.comThe speech is Sunday, December 6, 2009, 3:30 p.m., above the Tea Party Bookshop, 420 Ferry St. SE, in Salem, Oregon. The talk is free and open to the public.
(PORTLAND, Ore.) - In a December 6 speech to the Annual Meeting of Oregon Peace Works, Mick Mortlock will look at the potential future of Oregon if we are able to rein in the current economic and political tendencies that have led to war. In his speech, “Peace Vision: Oregon in 50 years,” Mortlock will introduce his concept of a peace multiplier. According to Mortlock, “The Peace Multiplier unleashes the power and potential of young men and women to make unprecedented improvements in our state or invent new products and services that could propel Oregon into an exciting future. Ideas like hosting the Winter and Summer Olympics, building super highways, or more sustainable mass transit systems become increasingly possible in times of peace.” Mortlock will explore these and other sustainable visions for Oregon in his speech and on his website: imaginationgardener.com. His speech is Sunday, December 6, 2009, 3:30 p.m., above the Tea Party Bookshop, 420 Ferry St. SE, in Salem, Oregon. The talk is free and open to the public. About Mick Mortlock: Mortlock was named one of America's leading futurists by The Public Manager, a prominent publication reaching federal, state and county government leaders. His career was recently profiled in The Oregonian, and he serves on the boards of area non-profits.
