First Snow of the Season is Salem's own Winter Wonderland (VIDEO)

(SALEM) - It's always exciting when the first snowflakes fall. Even more exciting when the prospect of a "snow day" exists for local school kids, which is exactly what they got early this week.

Monday's flurries sent Salemites to stores to stock up as quickly as possible for the impending storm, which as it turned out, lasted less than 48 hours. It was a good dress rehearsal for winter though, and most feel certain they are more prepared than a week ago.

As we gather wood and warm up the stew, Oregonians find themselves in the company of friends and family more than ever this time of year. Maybe it's the holidays, or maybe it's instinctive, to come together when the seasons change, to bear witness to another year coming full circle.

This is my first year in Salem (came from Arizona) and I cant wait for this year to see some snow!! My kids are so excited at the prospect of snow. Great Video.
