(SALEM) - “The New Galleries at Alessandro’s” are scheduled to open Friday, December 1st within the 12,000 square foot restaurant, Alessandro’s 120 Ristorante.

The galleries will initially feature the original oils and limited edition “giclee” prints of 12 internationally acclaimed artists – Andrew Atroshenko, Mikhail and Inessa Garmash, Avtandil Makharoblidze, S. Sam Park, Tim Rogerson, Viktor Shvaiko, Sophie Sirot, Denard Stallings, Thomas Stiltz, Svetlana Valueva, and Vladimir Volegov.

“We believe the art selection will not only appeal to a wide range of personal tastes, but also enhance the dining experience at Alessandro’s,” says Yost, no stranger to Oregon’s art scene. Roger Yost won or shared four first place awards from New York’s famed Art Directors Club during a 30-year career in which he served as creative director and a marketing vice president for Portland-based Jantzen.

Yost has been an active supporter of Salem’s Artists in Action group for the last three years, hosting the “Something Red” competition, and providing free exhibit space for the group in the Reed Opera House. He has also sponsored contests among student artists that rewarded their elementary schools with cash prizes to fund the purchase of art supplies.

Earlier this year, Yost commissioned area artist Kev Kohler to paint murals on the elevator doors at the Reed, and currently has retained Katrina Axtell-Fink to produce a mural on the walls of the “Reed Underground” featuring many of Downtown Salem’s historic buildings. Alessandro’s 120 Ristorante is in a beautiful 1870 building in historic downtown Salem at 120 Commercial St SE.

A great addition to your artists, if you are also including local artists, is Shanna Ruyle at www.shannaruyle.com. She's in several Oregon gallaries. Very nice!
