Police Searching for Man Who Fled After High Speed Chase

Police have indentified the driver as 34-year-old Shane Lacoe of Eugene.

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - Eugene police are searching for a man who eluded them in a suspected stolen car after a high speed chase Wednesday night.

Eugene police say they stopped the chase near River Road, fearing for the public's safety.

A short time later, the officers were nearly struck head on as the driver passed in the opposite direction.

Officers found that the fleeing suspect had struck a pole earlier and was quickly losing control of the vehicle.

He stopped the vehicle and fled on foot. Two passengers were taken into custody.

Police have indentified the driver as 34-year-old Shane Lacoe of Eugene.

Police say Lacoe is considered dangerous.

Anyone with information on Lacoe's whereabouts or if you see him call Eugene police at 541-682-5111.
