Two Armed Robberies Reported Friday Night in Yamhill CountySalem-News.comThe suspect in both robberies matches the same description. He is a Hispanic man, in his 20's, about 5'7", short hair and medium weight and build.
(LAFAYETTE, Ore.) - Friday evening was busy for Yamhill County police agencies as two armed robberies occurred within an hour of each other. Around 7:30 PM, Yamhill County Sheriff's deputies were called to a robbery at the Bakery and Tacos el Pad Reno, 621 NE Third, in Lafayette where a lone Hispanic man reportedly entered the store, displayed a handgun and demanded cash. Witnesses said he was last seen running from the store. Then around 8:00 PM, the Great Clips at 901 Brutscher in Newberg reported an armed robbery. A lone male reportedly displayed a handgun and again demanded money. He ran from the store, which is located in the Newberg Fred Meyer complex. The suspect in both robberies matches the same description. He is a Hispanic man, in his 20's, about 5'7", short hair and medium weight and build. He was wearing a green University of Oregon hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and wearing a blue bandana. The man reportedly displayed a large handgun in both cases. The Newberg investigation found the possibility of a full size white Chevy Suburban, or similar make and model, leaving the area of the Great Clips business. No other description of the Suburban is available. The Yamhill County Sheriff's Office is investigating the Lafayette robbery. Newberg-Dundee Police is working the Newberg case. The two agencies were assisted with help from the Oregon State Police/McMinnville, and by the McMinnville Police and Washington County Sheriff's Office, whose officer and deputy conducted canine searches at the scenes of both events. There were no injuries in either incident. The amount of loss in both events is not yet determined and will not be disclosed, police say. Investigators say followup information will be released as developed and available.
