(WHEELER, Ore.) - Police say a male adult driver died Friday evening after being ejected from his pickup that rolled off Highway 26 east of Mitchell in Wheeler County. The victim has been identified as 43-year old Allen Anton Sexton of Brookings.

Saturday at approximately 6:00 PM, Mr. Sexton was driving his 1997 Ford pickup westbound on Highway 26 near milepost 85 when it lost control negotiating a curve and left the north side of the highway.

Oregon State Police troopers from Prineville and John Day work sites responded. Senior Trooper Scott Vaughan is the lead investigator. Preliminary investigation indicates speed and alcohol may be contributing factors.

Wheeler County Sheriff's Office, Mitchell Fire and Ambulance, Dayville Ambulance, and ODOT assisted at the scene. Source: Oregon State Police
