Suspected Serial Robber Arrested In PortlandSalem-News.comThe man is a suspect in several area robberies.
(PORTLAND, Ore.) - 42-year-old Michael Gene Benson, was arrested by members of the US Marshall's Office Monday, October 19, 2009, in connection with a series of armed robberies that have occurred in Portland, Clackamas County, Gresham, and Tigard. Portland Police Robbery Detectives believe that Benson is responsible for seven armed robberies in the Portland area. Benson was arrested and held on Multnomah County arrest warrants for three robberies in Portland and a Multnomah County Grand Jury will be held for the remaining four robberies that Benson is suspected of committing in Portland. All of these robberies were committed at knife point and occurred in August, September and October. Benson is suspected of robbing the Motel 6 at southeast 92nd and Stark, the Motel 6 at southeast 30th and Powell, the Travelodge located at the 3800 Block of Northeast 82nd Avenue, the Liberated World adult store at southeast 106th and Division, the Ladds Inn at southeast 12th and Clay, the Blackwell Steakhouse at northeast 41st and Sandy Blvd, and Ed's Deli located at the 3500 Block of Southeast 52nd Avenue. Portland Police Robbery Detectives have coordinated their investigation with the investigations of the other law enforcement agencies involved. Source: Portland Police
