(SALEM) - Salem based Psychotherapist and author of the new book "Dynamic Energetic Healing®: Integrating Core Shamanic Practices with Energy Psychology Applications and Processwork Principles" (Columbia Press, Feb 2006), has reason to celebrate today.

After months of promoting his first book on a new psychotherapy model that integrates ancient spiritual healing practices with modern psychotherapy, Howard Brockman received a surprise announcement.

Brockman received notification on October 18th from USABookNews.com that his book is a finalist in the "New Age: Non-Fiction" category of the "BEST BOOKS 2006" National Book Awards.

Howard Brockman MA, MSW, LCSW is a diplomate in clinical social work and has over 25 years of clinical experience as a psychotherapist in private practice in Salem.

Howard is a contributing author to Fred Gallo's book, "Energy Psychology in Psychotherapy: A Comprehensive Source Book", published by W.W. Norton & Co. (September, 2002), and a founding member of The Pacific Northwest Center for Energetic Healing.

Howard is a frequent guest on talk radio and presents his work at national and international conferences including the annual International Conference on Comprehensive Energy Psychology and the annual Conference for the Society of Shamanic Practitioners.

In the Dynamic Energetic Healing® model, Brockman synthesizes three different healing modalities: energy psychology, core shamanic practices and process-oriented psychology.

DEH® is an energy-based psychotherapy that provides an alternative for the millions of Americans frustrated with the over-prescription of antidepressants and countless hours of talk therapy by combining contemporary psychology with ancient spiritual wisdom.

Dynamic Energetic Healing® has proven successful in addressing depression, posttraumatic stress disorder, eating disorders, anxiety and panic attacks, addictions, dissociative disorders, the emotional/mental underpinnings of physical illness and the spiritual and developmental issues that surface in mid-life.

Brockman's book discusses the origins of DEH®, provides an outline of the DEH® model including various interventions, illustrations, and a protocol for how to use them. The book also includes 17 fascinating case histories that demonstrate the transformative power of Dynamic Energetic Healing®.

Winners and finalists in over 120 categories covering print, audio, ebooks and interactive CD-ROMs published in 2006 and late 2005 will be announced publicly on November 1st.
