(SALEM) - With the Oregon Lottery's record-setting $1 billion sales for fiscal year 2006 already in the books, fiscal year 2007 is off to a good start.

The lottery's $167.7 million transfer to the Economic Development Fund for the first quarter of fiscal year 2007 ending September 30th, 2006, was its highest ever.

"Our business plan for the current fiscal year was developed to continue the successes we enjoyed in fiscal year 2006," said Oregon Lottery Commission Chair Steve Ungar. "More importantly, record lottery transfers provide added revenue to projects and programs throughout Oregon."

Since the Oregon Lottery began selling tickets in April 1985, it has earned over $4.9 billion for public education, economic development, state parks, and watershed enhancements and salmon habitat restoration.
