Be Aware! Two Salem Area Road Construction Projects Could Put a Damper on Your CommuteSalem-News.comExpect delays of 15 minutes and intermittent lane closures.
(SALEM) - The City of Salem and the Oregon Department of Transportation want you to Be Aware! of two road construction projects that begin on Monday. Turner Road at the I-5 undercrossing will be closed from Monday through Friday from 7:00 PM and 5:00 AM. The closure will allow construction to take place on the new I-5 bridge over Turner Road. Crews expect to have the work finished by 5:00 AM on Friday. Drivers on Turner Road should expect intermittent single-lane closures and delays during the day, with traffic controlled by flaggers. During the nighttime closure, Turner Road traffic between Kuebler Boulevard and Mission Street will be re-routed to temporary detours. Detour signs will direct drivers to Kuebler Boulevard, Lancaster Drive and Mission Street to avoid the work zone. Drivers should allow extra time to travel the detour route. I-5 drivers should watch for electronic message boards, narrow lanes, and roadside equipment and workers during the overnight work. Also beginning on Monday through Thursday between the hours of 8:30 AM and 3:30 PM, Orchard Heights Road NW will be reduced to one lane of traffic between Titan Drive NW and Grice Hill Drive NW for water service. Flaggers will be in place to control traffic. Expect 15-minute delays.
