The single engine Piper Malibu went down Friday night after the pilot reported he had lost engine power.

The plane was en route from Salem, Oregon, to Springbank, Alberta.

Authorities said the plane tried to make it to the town of Fairmont in southeast British Columbia, but crashed about six miles east of Invermere.

The identities of those on board have not yet been released by authorities. However Canadian media reports say onboard the plane were a 37-year-old Calgary man, his 63-year-old father and a pilot from Calgary.
