(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) - Police say a suspect arrested in the wake of an armed robbery in Clackamas was a juvenile who had been carrying a knife and a handgun, which were later recovered.

Detective Jim Strovink with the Clackamas Sheriff's Office says the incident began Sunday evening at 8:40 PM when patrol personnel received a report of an armed robbery that took place at the Clackamas Food Market on SE 82nd Drive and SE St. Helens Street.

Clackamas County Sheriff's Patrol Deputies set up a perimeter around the surrounding area and maintained containment as Sheriff's Office personnel scoured the area for the fleeing robbery suspect.

Strovink says responding Deputies recognized the broadcast description of the robbery suspect as being noticeably similar to a previous robbery event that occurred -- at this same establishment --on October 25th.

At 8:58 PM, a citizen reported a male subject hiding in bushes a short distance from the crime scene north of SE Adams Street, just off from 82nd Drive. A canine unit responded to this area while receiving directions from the citizen and located a male subject matching the robbery suspect attempting to conceal him self in the bushes.

This subject was detained and identified at the scene as the robbery suspect by witnesses, Strovink said.

"Investigators also believe this may be the same suspect who is responsible for the prior robbery event reported on October 25th, at the same establishment."

An immediate search of the suspect's route of travel resulted in the recovery of discarded suspect clothing and money stolen during the robbery event. In addition, a knife and a handgun believed to have been in the possession of the suspect during the robbery were located and seized as evidence.

This armed robbery subject, 17-year old Jose Pablo Hernandez, was transported to the Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention Center, in Portland.

He faces two counts of first degree Robbery. These are measure eleven type crimes Strovink said, and bail was set at $500,000.

Hernandez will be arraigned today at 1:30 p.m. in the Clackamas County Circuit Court, in Oregon City.
