Injuries to 6-Month Old Infant Result in Arrest of Salem Man

As of this morning, the baby remains at OHSU and is listed as "critical condition".

(SALEM, Ore.) - An injured baby transported to the Salem Hospital for treatment of injuries Monday led to the arrest of a man on assault charges.

Marion County Sheriff's Deputies say information they received Monday indicated that a six-month old child had been brought in with serious injuries and was being taken from Salem, to the OHSU Children's Hospital.

Marion County detectives began their investigation Tuesday and subsequently arrested 23-year old Robert D. Morris of Salem on charges of Assault I and Assault II. Morris, who is the father of the child, was lodged in the Marion County Jail where he remains at this time.

As of 7:30 AM today, the baby remains at OHSU and is listed as "critical condition".

Marion County detectives are continuing the investigation into this case and updates will be made as soon as they are available.

You people don't know anything. I'm good friends with these people. The mother was at work and didn't know ANYTHING. I was shocked to hear that he'd done this. It's terrible. I baby-sat that child and i have never seen any parents love a child more.

why would someone allow something like this to happen to someone so innocent!

Members of the family and even friends were aware of previous injuries this child suffered. The entire household should be in custody until this is sorted out.

I just heard that the baby died. This man needs to be put away for life! I can't imagine someone doing this to a baby!
