Old Man Winter Visits New Hampshire

Throughout the Northeast into tonight, bridges and overpasses will be the first to turn slick.

(HARRISVILLE, N.H.) - The snow started here at 3:00 p.m. EST and I went out to measure it at exactly 8:30pm EST and we have exactly 13 inches. That is over 2 inches an hour and on October 29th. At this rate, we'll be snowbound by 6:00 a.m.

AccuWeather.com meteorologists are worried that many more could follow tonight. Temperatures dropping below freezing through tonight will allow the historic snowstorm to cover roadways throughout the Northeast much easier than during the daylight hours.

I am attaching a photo I took about an hour ago to give everyone an idea of what is happening here. Weather forecasters say plummeting temperatures tonight, mean more roads will turn slick and treacherous across the Northeast.

In fact the historic snowstorm slamming the Northeast has already caused numerous accidents and road closures earlier today. Motorists will quickly be faced with slippery and treacherous conditions on roads that remained generally wet earlier today.

There is a good chance the bears will go into hibernation early this year. Even the foxes, coyotes, and gray wolves didn't come for their handout tonight... so much for global warming!

The teams at AccuWeather.com say that even where the snowstorm has come to an end, slush on untreated roadways will turn icy. Those traveling by foot should also use caution since the same can be said for sidewalks.

Throughout the Northeast into tonight, bridges and overpasses will be the first to turn slick.

"Those required to travel are advised to use extra caution and give extra time to arrive to the destination safely," stated AccuWeather.com Expert Senior Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski.

It is not just icy roads that are creating hazards for motorists, but also trees, limbs and power lines that succumbed to the weight of the heavy, wet snow that is already shattering records.

Salem-News.com admittedly, is very critical of both American politics, as well as those of other nations that we perceive is being wrong in their motives and actions. At the same time, within these structures we criticize, are many outstanding people who make each day a better place for all those around them. They embody and personify the American spirit that is sometimes fleeting, but always present.

These are some of the things Robert takes into account when writing commentary that is designed reach people, to "get them thinking" in his words, and indeed it does.
