(SALEM, Ore.) - Marion County Sheriff's deputies responded to the report of a Robbery at the Plaid Pantry in the 4600 block of Silverton Road NE early Monday morning at 3:30 a.m. Lt. Sheila Lorance with the Marion County Sheriff's Office, says the suspects had left the area by the time deputies arrived. The store employee indicated two adult males entered the store and attempted to buy wine, Lorance said. The employee reportedly said they tried to open the coolers where the beer is kept but they were unable to do so but the sale of alcohol is not allowed after 2:30 a.m. and the cases were locked. After a few moments, the suspects reached through the milk cooler, got a bottle of wine and then brought it up to the counter as if to purchase it. Lorance said, "When the clerk told them she could not sell the alcohol to them, one of the suspects reached over the counter grabbed several packs of cigarettes and then hit her in the head with the bottle of wine. Both suspects ran out of the store and toward the back of the business." The suspect who took the items and then assaulted the store employee is described as a white male, 21 years old, 5'09", medium build, blonde hair, wearing a red shirt and white and red pants. The second suspect is described as a white male 21 years old, 5'09", medium build, brown hair and wearing a red shirt and blue pants. Based on surveillance videos it is believed the same suspects may have also stolen beer from a Plaid Pantry on SE River Road earlier that same day, around 2:00 a.m. If you have any information regarding either of the suspects, please call the Marion County Sheriff's Office at 503 588-5032. Also, Plaid Pantries, Inc. is offering up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in this case.
