Be Aware! Salem - Polk County Weekly Road Construction ReportSalem-News.comUse alternate routes if possible to get to your destination.
(SALEM, Ore. ) - The City of Salem Public Works Department and the Polk County Department of Public Works, want you to Be Aware! of some construction projects that are getting underway this week that could affect your commute through town. Please make a note of these projects, and if your commute takes you through one of these workzones, allow extra time to get to your destination, or use an alternate route. Salem-Area Road Report Commercial St NE Between Center St NE and Chemeketa St NE. 9/4 - 9/5; 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Traffic reduced to 3 lanes for work on the Chemeketa Parkade. Chemeketa St NE Between Liberty St NE and Commercial St NE. 9/4 - 9/5; 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Street closure for work on the Chemeketa Parkade. River Rd S Between Croisan Creek Rd S and Cricket Ln S. 9/4 - 9/6; 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. River Rd S between Croisan Creek Road S and Cricket Ln S will be reduced to one lane of traffic with flaggers. This closure is for installation of utilities and street improvements. Expect some delay in this area. Summer St NE Between Market St NE and D St NE. 9/6 - 10/26; 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM. Summer Street NE between Market Street NE and D Street NE will be reduced to one lane of traffic. Additionally, E Street NE and Belmont Street NE will be closed to thru traffic. These closures are part of a sanitary sewer and storm sewer replacement project. Polk County Road Report James Howe Road at the north end off of Salt Creek Road will be paved on Wednesday, September 5th through Thursday, September 6th. Travelers should expect up to a 30-minute delay. DeJong Road will be CLOSED for paving on Tuesday, September 4th. All traffic will need to use alternate routes. Emergency vehicles will be allowed through. Paving is scheduled from 7:00 AM to noon. Enterprise Road will be paved Wednesday, September 5th through Thursday, September 6th. Travelers should expect up to a 30-minute delay. Mill Creek Road slide area has been repaired. Realignment of the road and paving are on hold until the power company can move the power poles. Helmick Road widening project will begin on Tuesday, September 4th through Friday, September 21st. This project will be completed in sections with daily road closures. Local traffic, services, and emergency vehicles will be allowed through. Delays should be expected. Related
