Troop And Veterans Appreciation Day to be Held This MonthKevin Hays Salem-News.comThe Oregon Veterans Motorcycle Association is also sponsoring a Poker Run with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the Coalition of Troop Support.
(McMINNVILLE ) - Active Duty military members and prior service veterans will be honored during the fourth annual Troop and Veterans Appreciation Day in McMinnvile, September 23rd. Veterans and their families will be recognized for their service to our country, and treated to food and music. A traveling military museum and several other military items will be on display. The event, sponsored by the Coalition of Troop Support, or COTS, takes place from noon to 3:00 PM at the McMinnville National Guard Armory, 333 Armory Way. COTS is a four-year-old organization founded by Sue Robertson, who began gathering items to create “Comfort Kits” that have been prepared and sent to thousands of Oregon and Washington military members serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. COTS is currently seeking the following items for the “Comfort Kits”. Soap, men’s and women’s deodorant and other personal toiletries, toothpaste, candy, gum, snack foods, powered drink mixes, batteries, paperback books, eye drops, and lip balm. Donated items may be dropped off at the McMinnville Armory, the McMinnville American Legion Post, 126 Atlantic Street, or by calling COTS at (503) 662-3399 for pick-up.
