Officials anticipate the problem will be resolved by Sunday.

(DAYTON, Ore. ) - Dayton residents are being advised to boil their drinking water after city officials found fecal coliform bacteria in the water supply September 12th.

The bacteria can cause diarrhea, cramps, nausea, and headaches. Those with weakened immune systems including the elderly, young children, and infants are most at risk.

Officials say residents should bring all water to a boil, boil it for one minute, and let it cool before using it.

Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation until the city issues further notice.

City workers are testing water from each of the city's wells, increasing chlorine levels, and flushing water system lines.

Officials anticipate the problem will be resolved by Sunday.

For more information contact City Hall at (503) 864-2221.

Do you really think we public water systems are that unsafe? I don't think so TIM. Go to the Oregon Health Department's Drinking Water Program Website and click the online data link. Oregon Health Department guys..... How did that song go? 'Paranoia Will Destroy Ya'

Tim: Larry, we are in the Dayton area now, it is where Bonnie grew up. There is a problem with the water system, these government folks don't make that stuff up for fun. I was truly alarmed when my little boy brought a note home from school about it. What can we say, fecal matter happens sometimes

see... exactly... to this day I continue to wonder what it be I drink in the water I consume... it was uncalled for for those children to have suffered as they did... government bureaucracies suck...

So is this why kids were sick Wed/Thurs/Fri at Dayton schools? What are the signs/symptoms of a reaction to this bacteria? Hey school officials-SLOW reaction time people! It must have been too difficult to send a simple note home with kids huh? Disappointing job performance at best.
