Sex Offender Arrested for Sexual Assault in BeavertonSalem-News.comPolice say the story reminds us of the dangers our children face.
(BEAVERTON, Ore.) - Beaverton Police say they arrested an adult sex offender as he was having sex with a 13-year old girl in a transient camp Monday night. Sgt. Paul Wandell with Beaverton Police says it began when a TriMet fare inspector obtained the names of the pair and identified them as 22-year old Roger Lester Larocque III and a 13 year-old runaway as they were leaving the Beaverton Transit Center. Wandell says TriMet immediately contacted their transit Police and Beaverton Police after learning Larocque was a registered sex offender, under post-prison supervision with the stipulation he was not to have contact with minors. TriMet says they also learned the female juvenile was listed as a runaway out of Portland. Two Beaverton officers were aware of a transient camp in the area of SW 114th and SW McBride. As they were checking this location, officers located Larocque and the juvenile off of a bike path. Officers saw Larocque and the juvenile lying on the ground and underneath a blanket. Police say the investigation showed Larocque and the juvenile were having sexual intercourse when officers found them. Larocque was arrested and lodged at the Washington County Jail on a charge of Rape in the Second Degree and on a parole violation detainer. Chief David G. Bishop commented, "The arrest of Roger Larocque III reminds us of the dangers our children face. Fortunately, this child is safe today as a result of the actions of the TriMet fare inspector."
