Three Alarm Fire at Abandoned Mill In Lebanon

No injuries were reported in the major fire that broke out Thursday night.

(LEBANON) - Fire crews from around Linn County battled a raging inferno at an abandoned Lebanon mill late Thursday night.

Crews from seven fire districts battled the blaze at the old Champion mill near the Santiam Highway and Market Street into the morning hours Friday.

The first call came in just after 11:00 AM, and Lebanon fire investigators said the blaze apparently broke out on the third floor of the complex and quickly spread.

An investigation into the cause of the fire in underway.

The mill closed in 2004.

Fire investigators said crews began demolition of the building Thursday, and they were using welding torches.
