mawari...what do you suggest ? And by the way , it is already "extremely unpleasant to come to the attention of the police". Your main gripe seems to be fiscal...what if a taxpayer is stabbed ? Should they get less of a beating ?

mawari: Are you suggesting that maybe the police should taser stabbing victims? Or possibly beat them up like the few did to Rodney King? I would say that most cops wouldn't want to be like that. At least the ones I know. I also don't think our civilized society would stand for it. Just don't tell the Bush administration you idea, they would love to have our society a police state where no one had any rights. This is a very dangerous suggestion.

We need to make getting involved with the police more scary for these troublemaking yahoos. The way it stands now, getting stabbed is a status symbol, of sorts, and free medical care is nice too. They have no fear of police involvement and perhaps if we made it extremely unpleasant to come to the attention of the police, it would help solve a little part of this huge problem of draining the taxpayers resources.
