Medford Man Dies in Single Vehicle Crash Near Glendale, OregonSalem-News.comThe crash happened on southbound Interstate-5 near milepost 83.
(GLENDALE, Ore.) - Police say a Medford, Oregon man died in a crash on Interstate–5 southbound near milepost 83, Sunday just after 2:30 p.m. Oregon State Police Sgt. Steve Mitchell, says troopers were dispatched to a fatal motor vehicle crash on Interstate–5 southbound to a location about three miles north of Glendale, Oregon. A 1993 Ford pickup, driven by 52-year old Sheldon Masterson of Medford, was southbound when the vehicle suffered an apparent tire blowout. Mr. Masterson's vehicle left the roadway and went onto the outside shoulder where it rolled several times. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. Mr. Masterson had one passenger in his vehicle, a female juvenile, who is a resident of Medford. Sheldon Masterson and his passenger were both wearing safety restraints. The female juvenile passenger in the vehicle was transported by ambulance to Three Rivers Hospital in Grants Pass and is being treated for non-life threatening injuries. Mitchell says the slow lane was closed for about four hours while members of the Oregon State Police investigated the crash. The state troopers were assisted at the scene by Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Azalea Fire Department, Glendale Ambulance, and the Oregon Department of Transportation. Members of the Oregon State Police (OSP) Roseburg Patrol Office are continuing the investigation.
