(ASTORIA, Ore. ) - The U.S. Coast Guard has suspended the search for a 35-year-old man who fell overboard Saturday, near the Columbia River entrance.

Coast Guard Group Astoria spokesman says they received a call from the 36-foot fishing vessel Ida W II that one of their crew members had fallen overboard and was not wearing a life vest.

They then launched an HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew and Coast Guard Station Cape Disapointment launched two 47-foot motor life boat crews to the scene.

Weather conditions on scene were approaching gale force winds with water temperatures in the low to mid 50's the Coast Guard spokesman said.
