(SALEM, Ore.) - Medical marijuana Calling all Patients! Oregon Medical Marijuana Program (OMMP) cardholders are coming together to defend the OMMA and fight for its expansion- and advocates are asking for patients to come to the Capitol.

Tomorrow, April 14th, 2011 at 8:00 a.m. proposed Senate Bill 874 will be going through what is known as a "gut and stuff" session. What's a "gut and stuff"? It's an opportunity to retain the framework of a bill and change what's within it.

Could Oregon be First to End Cannabis Prohibition? `OCTA 2012` is Approved for Signatures

The petition drive could lead to ending the failed prohibition law.

(SALEM, Ore.) - OCTA 2012 If passed, the Oregon Cannabis Tax Act of 2012 will regulate the legal sale of marijuana to adults through state-licensed stores, allow adults to grow their own, license Oregon farmers to grow marijuana for state-licensed stores and allow unlicensed Oregon farmers to grow cannabis hemp for fuel, fiber and food.

OCTA 2012 organizers need to gather 90,000 registered voters' signatures.

Medical marijuana activists rallied at the Capitol against proposed 'restrictive' legislation

(SALEM, Ore.) - Cannabis rally in Oregon About 75 people stood outside Oregon’s capitol last Wednesday in the freezing cold, demanding their health rights are respected by the legislature.

Before the bills hit the Legislature, controversy was already showing it's antagonistic head. There is a small faction of the cannabis community that, though they profess to have the best intentions of the medical patients at heart, regularly join forces to put forth legislation that is not a reflection of the majority of those very patients.

Snow Levels Drop and Oregon`s Winter Continues

Risks increase as snow and hail hit the valley floor.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Suddenly, winter! A short snowstorm in the Portland area gave Oregonians a reminder that winter is far from over in the northwest.

According to the National Weather Service, rain showers are likely and possibly a thunderstorm this afternoon. Some of the storms could produce small hail, which Salem experienced for about ten minutes in the noon hour.

Bonnie King`s career is unique, she is one of the few media professionals who has extensive time in four relevant areas; radio, television, newspaper and Internet. She has been with Salem-News.com since August 2004.

Her television career began in 1988, at Lincoln City, Oregon`s cable TV station, TV 10, in dual roles as News Anchor and Sales/Promotion Director. This was a natural evolution of her journalistic aspirations, since she was first "bit by the bug" while serving as Editor in Chief of her high school yearbook for two years. She graduated from Bassist College in Portland, Oregon in 1986.

Bonnie has interviewed legends like Aaron Spelling, Hugh Miles and Peter Frampton; Nadia Komenich, the feisty Judge Mills Lane, and the stars from CHARMED, FELICITY, ROSWELL, 7TH HEAVEN and BUFFY the VAMPIRE SLAYER. She has interviewed Oregon`s governors and congressmen, and she was part of the award-winning NBC news crew that first spoke to Evander Holyfield the night of the notorious Tyson ear-biting incident.

Her first full length documentary, `Fallen Fortress at Cape Lookout` aired on Oregon Public Broadcasting in 1993, for which she was the Producer. She is presently working on two Oregon based historical documentaries, and is an integral force in civil and human rights causes.

Bonnie has served in a number of positions in the broadcast industry; TV Production Manager at KVWB (Las Vegas WB) and Producer/Director for the TV series "Hot Wheels in Las Vegas" (2 seasons); TV Promotion Director for KYMA (NBC), and KFBT (Ind.); Asst. Marketing Director (SUPERSHOPPER MAGAZINE); Director/Co-Host (Coast Entertainment Show); Promotion Director (KBCH/KCRF Radio); and, Newspapers In Education/Circulation Sales Manager (STATESMAN JOURNAL NEWSPAPER).

Bonnie has a depth of understanding that reaches further than just behind the scenes, and that thoroughness of her nature is demonstrated in the perseverance to correctly present each story with the wit and wisdom necessary to compel and captivate viewers.
