(MYRTLE BEACH, SC) - In the 15 years I have been reporting on the prescription opioid epidemic, it has in some ways been frustrating to be a forerunner in exposing the criminal activity of pharma, the FDA, politicians, physicians, pain foundations and organizations profiting from the surging death and addiction rates -- while US Senator Orrin Hatch is allowed to obstruct justice.

In 2012, the US Senate Finance Committee began an investigation into the prescription opioid epidemic. When the report was finished, Orrin Hatch simply had the contents sealed closed.

Marino had cited personal reasons for turning down the prestigious position several months ago. His personal reasons "resolved" themselves and Marino was appointed for a second time by Trump.

Marino has been a longtime supporter of the president -- so much so that Trump nominated Marino back in the spring for the same position -- drug czar.

After all, a report had been issued entitled "Facing Addiction in America - The Surgeon General's Report on Alcohol, Drugs, and Health".

Considering that the Obama administration all but ignored the massive prescription opioid epidemic in the country, Murthy actually issuing a report was monumental.
