Good Move: Trump Withdraws Rep. Tom Marino of Pennsylvania as Drug Czar

Those contributing to the deaths of future generations via the prescription opioid epidemic must be stopped.

(MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.) - In October 2014, I wrote an article for Salem-News.com and Global News Centre regarding Congressman Tom Marino of Pennsylvania and his background as related to the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and their attempts to crackdown on pharmacy pill mills -- along with other biographical issues concerning Mr. Marino.

Several weeks ago, President Trump announced that Marino was being slotted as "drug czar" for the administration.

(MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.) - Someone may want to inform Senator McCaskill that her recent call for an investigation into the prescription opioid epidemic was already launched by the U.S. Finance Committee in 2012 and as of 2017 there is still no report.

So why would McCaskill demand action on an epidemic killing in the thousands every year when she is aware the waters are not uncharted?

(MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.) - On May 9, 2012 the U.S. Senate Finance Committee announced an investigation into the prescription opioid epidemic waging a war of addiction and death throughout the U.S.

Their investigation was to be focused on the American Pain Foundation (they closed their doors when the investigation was announced), the Center for Practical Bioethics, and five other organizations.

Without prevention, outrage and leadership, the fatal scourge will progress.

If the question is Was this considered a "public" hearing by a pharmaceutical company who will profit in the billions of dollars if neonatals and newborns receive opioids?, the answer is YES.

FDA - Opioids for Pediatric Patients - How could you get it so wrong?

(MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.) - The purpose of the two-day meeting was to discuss prescription opioid analgesics for pediatric patients. The FDA experts and their egos were in plentiful supply as they fell over each other condoning opioids for pediatric patients.

Unfortunately the audience in the large auditorium was sparsely attended -- no Partnership for a Drug Free Kids and no advocacy organizations.

Douglas Throckmorton, MD, Deputy Director of FDA - I expect an apology!

I participated in a "stakeholders" teleconference with Dr. Throckmorton to discuss the "FDA's strongest box warning on opioids". Or, did I?

(MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.) - I questioned if the FDA worked for pharma or was protecting the American people. Then I said -- "So far this year you have approved 7 or 8 extended release opioids -- when is enough enough? You have sat back while 26,000 people died this year alone."

My response to challenging Dr. Throckmorton was a voice saying the teleconference was over and I was disconnected.
